A SIDMOUTH man's efforts in the London Marathon last month have raised �1,300 for the Action for Blind People charity.
Former Sidmouth Town and Sidbury United footballer Ian Corrick, 23, completed the 26-mile in four hours and 27 seconds last month.
He was spurred on to do the run by his work colleague and friend Carolyn Woolcock - who is partially blind. Sidmothians will know Carolyn from her 20 years stint in the family firm of The Sidmouth Florists.
When the business was sold, Carolyn eventually made the brave step to work for EDF
Energy and started work in Exeter at the same time as Ian.
Ian said: "When Carolyn told me about the London marathon opportunity, I was delighted that I could do my own personal part for a charity which helped her so much.
"It got really hard towards the 17-mile mark and I didn't think I was going to make it but I had come that far and there was no way I was going to give up."
Ian has already applied for next year's marathon.
