SIDMOUTH Police's Neighbourhood Beat Team has been sending out community messaging packets to Neighbourhood Watch co-ordinators this week.
The Herald reported that a new system is being rolled out through Devon and Cornwall, encouraging people to sign up to a police messaging service.
If an incident happens that affects a particular community, town or street, a recorded message will go to the landline of those people who have signed up to the scheme.
Sidmouth Police are hoping Neighbourhood Watch co-ordinators will recruit as many people as possible.
