SIDMOUTH mothers are being encouraged to take part in research being conducted by two Psychology students at the University of Exeter.

Gin Newport, 22 and Emily Skillen, 21, are in the final year of their studies and are conducting the research into mothers' moods following childbirth at the university's Psychology Mood Disorder centre.

Gin said: "We are currently looking to recruit mothers with children aged under 18 to complete a questionnaire regarding the ups and downs of motherhood.

"We are interested in meeting anyone in Sidmouth and all of East Devon and could either see women here at the university campus or at, say, their local leisure centre."

The students are offering all those taking part the chance to win a £20 voucher as a thank you for participating.

They need 72 people to help in their research and some have already been found from the Exeter area.

Gin said: "This is an understudied area which requires new research in order to help the millions of new mothers manage their fluctuating moods in the following months of childbirth."
