SIDMOUTH Town Council was celebrating an early Christmas present yesterday after landing a 1,600 lottery grant that will boost residents who want to view planning applications.
The cash was handed to the town as part of the Big Lottery Fund’s 600,000 Awards for All funding programme giveaway.
Town council clerk Trina Jarrett said the money will be used to upgrade technology, including a large screen and projector system, used to display planning applications to councillors and the public at Woolcombe House.
She added: “We’re delighted. It wasn’t easy, we had to jump through quite a few hoops to get the money. It is the first time we’ve applied for any grant, so we’re really pleased.”
