A SIDMOUTH newsagent is the first in the area to offer a flexible parcel delivery service to online shoppers.

Peter Sullivan, owner of Temple Street News, has joined forces with ParcelPark, a company which gives people the freedom to surf and shop online without any missed deliveries.

By registering free with ParcelPark users can direct their purchase to their local collection point for £1 a time. When the parcel arrives, an email and text message is sent to the parcel owner who is then able to collect it.

They can choose a time when it is convenient to them as the collection points normally are open until late and a secure PIN is used for the handover process.

Peter said: "As a shop in a local community we get lots of people asking for us to take parcels in.

"We heard about ParcelPark through our trade organisation and got in contact with them.

"A lot of people are out at work when parcels usually arrive between 9am-5pm so we keep their parcels for them until they can collect them."

The scheme has been used by Temple Street News for a month now and Peter has hailed it as a success.

He added: "It is going very well and as more people get to know about it we expect to take in more parcels."
