NHS dentists in Sidmouth are at full capacity meaning unregistered residents with tooth trouble cannot be treated in the town.
The Devon Local Involvement Network, a new group which aims to give communities the opportunity to influence health and social care services said the issue was raised by concerned Sidmothians at a recent meeting.
Luke Woolley, manager for NHS dental services at the Devon Primary Care Trust said: "Unfortunately at present the NHS dental practice in Sidmouth is working at full capacity and is therefore not accepting new NHS patients at this time. However there are alternative dental practices in Honiton, West Hill and Budleigh Salterton which are currently taking new NHS patients. We are keeping the position under review and we are looking to expand dental services in Sidmouth or the surrounding area in the near future."
Patients wishing to register for NHS dental services should contact the PCT on 0845 002 0034 or email ppsadental@nhs.net
