A TEAM from Sidmouth’s All Saints Church have celebrated scaling the highest mountains in Scotland, England and Wales – all within 24 hours.
The group of seven friends completed the Three Peaks Challenge with 10 minutes to spare.
Their efforts also saw them clock up 1,400 miles on the road.
Mark Barrett, Roger Carver, Tom Darlami, Geoff Purkiss, Chris Hamilton, David Mossop and driver Chaz Heil were all raising money for their individual charity choices.
They started at Ben Nevis at 4.50pm on Saturday, June 29, proceeded to Scafell Pike at 4.20am on the Sunday and finished at the top of Snowdon later that afternoon at 4.40pm.
They achieved the feat despite challenging weather conditions – and getting stuck in traffic for an hour on the M6.
Mark, 37, raised £1,000 for Sidmouth Primary School, where he is a governor, and said: “It was pretty hard, we did a lot of training in the coastal path.
“The camaraderie was wonderful and we had a great time.”
