A PENSIONER from Sidmouth has been left heartbroken after losing £145 she had set aside to buy her family Christmas presents.

HONEST staff at a Sidmouth business rescued a heartbroken pensioner’s festive hopes after she lost £145 set aside to buy her family Christmas presents.

The 87-year-old was left in despair after dropping a bundle of cash in the town last Friday.

Police said the upset and distressed pensioner feared someone had stolen the money, a combination of £5 and £20 notes.

The woman had just withdrawn it to buy gifts for her family.

An eagle-eyed staff member at Potbury’s spotted the bundle on the floor of the business and handed it in to her bosses.

The pensioner was reunited with the cash on Wednesday.
