SIDMOUTH police are warning residents to lookout for potential 'scam' phone calls.

Two concerned members of the public have each received a number of recorded phone calls this week, usually in the evenings, with a female voice stating: 'If you want this message to stop please call..."

The recorded message then gives the number of a mobile phone. The actual phone calls have been traced to a 088 number.

A police spokesman said: "We are warning people not to ring the number as it could be a scam and you could be charged premium telephone rates.
