Sidmouth Police received a call from Portland Coastguard asking to attend following a report of a small boat flashing their search lights in front of the Bedford Hotel on Sunday, November 23. Police went to check the situation but they found that the lights were coming from reflective strip buoyancy aids by the rocks. No boats were out at sea.
