THE quick-thinking of a woman living in Hillside Road, Sidmouth has led to the arrest of a suspected burglar.
Police helicopters and ground searches were carried out around the town after they were alerted around 8.15am yesterday morning (Thursday) when the resident spotted a man near a neighbour's property.
The man, aged 61, believed to be from the Hove area of East Sussex, was subsequently found in The Triangle and taken to Sidmouth Police Station where he was arrested at 9.20am on suspicion of going equipped to commit burglary.
Officers, including a dog-handler started carrying out searches of The Triangle at 10am before turning their attentions to further "extensive" searches in Hillside Road and Salcombe Hill.
