SIDMOUTH Police are assuring residents that there is always a police presence in the town.
This comes after some members of the public have complained that the front office has been closed this week.
Sidmouth Police Sergeant Andy Turner said: "The front office was closed on Monday and Tuesday as the station enquiry officer was taking annual leave. This does not mean there are not any police officers in the town. An officer is on duty 24 hours a day 365 days a year."
Sergeant Turner said if the office is closed people should use the phone which connects to the control room.
He added: "If an officer is not committed, they will be returned to the station. If the enquiry is non-urgent we ask for the person to come back another time and we will then deal with their enquiry.
