THREE Sidmouth police officers hope to boost a local charity which helps people with physical and learning disabilities.

THREE Sidmouth police officers hope to boost a local charity which helps people with physical and learning disabilities, when they part in a sponsored cycle on Thursday (September 18).

Sergeant Andy Turner and PCSOs Alex Powe and Steve Blanchford-Cox will be joining fellow East Devon Officers and peddling their way around a 40-mile route for the Dream-A-Way charity.

The round journey will see cyclists head off from Honiton Police Station at 9am and pay visits to Ottery St Mary, Sidmouth, Seaton and Axminster.

PS Turner is hopeful townsfolk will see fit to support them in their efforts. He said: "Its going to hurt our back sides more than it will hurt your wallets. I know many people from Sidmouth who have benefited from Dream-A-Way over the years, it's a really worthy cause."

All officers involved have given up rest-days and leave to take part in the cycle.

Dream-A-Way aims is to send local people with physical and learning difficulties on holidays and day trips.

Anybody wishing to sponsor the officers can contact the police station on Temple Street on 08452 777444 or Dream-A-Way on 07796 442144.
