Sidmouth Police warn of credit card scams

BEWARE bogus callers who aim to relieve you of your credit card details over the telephone.

BEWARE bogus callers who aim to relieve you of your credit card details over the telephone.

"Most of Devon has been plagued by a lot of bogus callers ringing houses at random saying they are from utility companies and asking for bills to be paid by card over the phone," PC Steve Lemon, Sidmouth's neighbourhood beat manager, told Sidmouth Town Council.

"They then refuse that one and ask for another. We've had a few complaints and we are putting this out to Neighbourhood Watch.

"We are trying to make everyone aware that you don't give your card details over the 'phone.
