NEWSPAPER readers in Sidmouth have been warned of an electrical advert scam.

Trading Standards chiefs have urged consumers to be on their guard after adverts appeared in several local newspapers offering goods at discount prices.
Customers wishing to buy goods have then been asked to transfer money directly to a bank account.
"It is not believed that any goods are ever received and if a customer calls to complain they may be asked to pass on their own bank details to receive a refund," said a Devon County Council spokesman.

Names used in the scam so far include "Office Bits Warehouse"; "Office Supplies Warehouse" and "Gadget Company".
