MORE road closure notices for Sidmouth highways left one civic leader asking when the town will appear ‘open’.

After extensive and expensive county council resurfacing work this month left All Saints and Woolbrook Roads shut for several days, town councillors learnt utilities companies will close other routes in coming weeks.

Laskeys Lane was this week shut on Monday, Tuesday and scheduled to be closed today so Western Power can carry out work.

South West Water will close Sid Road from May 24 to 26.

At a full meeting of Sidmouth Town Council earlier this month, Councillor Graham Liverton said of the latest road closures: “I realise this has got to be done but it will be nice when Sidmouth is actually open.”
