SIGNS banning daytime parking in Manor Road, Sidmouth were erected on Wednesday.

Devon County Council's Highways and Traffic Orders Committee (HATOC) agreed to extend the parking restriction between 10am and 6pm to all year round following complaints by residents.

A Manor Road resident said: "It was very dangerous, especially when coaches were going along there. They sometime had to go up onto the pavement to avoid hitting parked cars."

He praised the persistence of Gwen Denton, another resident, who single-handedly launched a petition and lobbied for the change in parking restrictions. He also thanked Stuart Hughes, chairman of HATOC.
