A concert fronted by a male choir has helped support local projects in Sidmouth, raising more than £2,000.

The event saw 200 attendees and was put on by Sidmouth Rotarians to aide their work in the community.

David Burgoyne, the head of the rotary’s organising committee, said: “The proceeds will help us to entertain the elderly, those living on their own and otherwise unable to enjoy themselves.”

The performers were the Rivertones Harmony Chorus from Somerset and the entire night’s music was learnt by memory.

They are 50-60 members strong with many never having sung before joining the chorus.

The money contributed will ensure that community support projects by the Rotarians can continue for the month ahead.

The concert took place at All Saints Church, Sidmouth in September and tenor soloist John Burgoyne joined the chorus.
