THIRTY four years after a Sidmouth Royal Navy Captain completed his basic training he re-visited the parade ground to inspect the Navy's newest recruits

Captain Peter Lambourn took part in the inspection during a parade at HMS Raleigh in Cornwall to mark the anniversary of his passing-out-parade.

He also presented prizes to the top recruit and to the class who had achieved the best overall marks.

Capt Lambourn said: "I still vividly recall my time at Raleigh, and the pride I felt at passing out, with my classmates, in front of my family.

"It was an honour and a real privilege to be able to come back and be part of this occasion.

"This was a special day for me, but more importantly, it was a special day for those passing out, who now move on to their specialist professional training."

Capt Lambourn was brought up in Sidmouth and educated at King's Grammar School, Ottery. He now lives in Petersfield, Hampshire.
