Sidmouth’s annual pancake day a flipping success with record number of entrants

Organisers Sid Valley Rotary Club saw a record number of entrants in the children’s competition and an increase in the number of adult teams entering this year.

Dukes once again triumphed to claim the prestigious ‘silver pan’ after a dramatic final against the Elizabeth Hotel.

Rotarian Chris Pink said: “After the appalling start to the day, we thought it was going to be a write off but it was a beautiful afternoon and we had more children than ever before.”

The club hopes it can encourage more organisations and businesses in the town to enter a team next year in the adult’s race.
