Sidmouth’s coffee queen appeals for Africa aid
Sidmouth residents asked to support East African aid appeal event
SIDMOUTH’S coffee queen, Betty Easey, is appealing to all in the Sid Valley to support her latest coffee morning for the East African Famine Appeal at Sidmouth Methodist Hall on Friday, July 22 from 10am to 12 noon.
“There will be various stalls and admission is 80p,” said Betty, who added: “Please support this special appeal.
“It is terribly sad because when you see these little children crying we must all try to help.”
The Disasters Emergency Committee, which supplied this photograph of the latest disaster, is accepting donations too, either online at www.dec.org.uk or by calling (0370) 60 60 900.

A spokeswoman said the worst drought in over half a century in parts of East Africa had affected more than 10 million people. She added: “Thousands of families have travelled for days across scorched scrubland from Somalia to Kenya, including barefoot children with no food or water.
“These people have witnessed their crops and livestock destroyed by the drought. The DEC needs your support to help families survive and to rebuild their lives.”
