Former Sidmouth Infants deputy head helps FORCE in weekend of 80th birthday celebrations

SHE is known to all as ‘Granny Chris’.

The former deputy head teacher of Sidmouth Infants, who taught generations of children in Sidmouth, celebrated her 80th birthday recently with family and friends.

She is pictured with them at a surprise ‘brunch party’ held at Sidmouth Methodist Church Hall.

Son Jeremy, principal at Sidmouth College, said: “She knew nothing about it before her daughter Vanessa opened the doors to the assembly of friends and family.

“Instead of presents, guests generously donated to FORCE and raised £325.”

Mrs Roberts’ celebrations began the night before with a family supper and on Sunday morning her friends at St Francis Church, Woolbrook, joined her for more cake and champagne after parish communion.
