Sidmouth show goes on despite ill-fated fairies in health alerts
FAIRIES in Sidmouth’s production of Iolanthe appear fated.
On Monday, Mo Cuthbert, one of the principal fairies, was hurt in a car accident at Trow Hill, Sidmouth, on her way to the dress rehearsal, and on opening night at Sidmouth Manor Pavilion Theatre last night (Tuesday), Queen of the Fairies, Jan Sutcliffe, was taken unwell and was today recovering in hospital.
Selwyn Kussman, chairman of Sidmouth Arts Club Operatic Society, which is performing the magical Gilbert and Sullivan show at Sidmouth’s theatre until Saturday, said: “Jan is still in hospital. We have managed to find someone to take her place. The show must go on.”
