Sidmouth Slimming World groups have now each named a ‘Woman of the Year’ for 2018.

Super slimmer’s Lorraine Fowler, Debbie Leeds, Lynn Cornish, Marissa Unsworth and Ang Mills have each been recognised for their life changing weight loss.

Lorraine, Debbie, Lynn, Marissa and Ang have achieved a combined weight loss of an incredible 25 stone.

Lynn, who has gone from a dress size 24 to a 12 and has lost an amazing nine stone, said: “Losing weight has made such a big difference to me. My health is better, I have more energy, I’m happier and I feel more comfortable in my own skin.”

Lorraine joined Slimming World in August 2016 after becoming increasingly unhappy with her size 22. Since Lorraine joined Slimming World she has dropped five dress sizes. She said: “I tried lots of different ways to lose weight but they usually left me feeling hungry or miserable or both in fact. With Slimming World it’s completely different.”

Debbie who reached her dream target in June 2017 added: “My family and friends are all amazed by how much I can eat and still lose weight. I still eat many of the same meals that I did before I started losing weight, like spaghetti bolognaise. Now I just prepare and cook them differently and they taste so much better.”

Ang said: “Right from the first moment I walked into my Slimming World group I felt comfortable though, and the support I’ve received has been amazing. I look forward to going each week to catch up with all of my new friends and share tips, recipes and advice. I just love it.”

Marissa lost 5lbs in her first week and was blown away that the changes she’d made had such a big impact so quickly. Marissa now loves running half marathons and has gone from a size 22 to a size eight. She said: “I feel like a different woman to the one who walked into Slimming World two years ago. I remember feeling like there was no hope when it came to my weight, but I’ve realised that when people believe in you and you believe in yourself you can do anything you set your mind to.

Now Lynn and Marissa will go forward to the regional finals of the competition, putting her in the running for the national title. The national Slimming World Woman of the Year 2018 will be announced in November and the winner will take home a £3,000 cash prize or a five-day holiday in Mexico.

Harriet Steptoe who runs the Sidmouth groups, says: “I’m so proud of all of the groups Woman of the Year winners. They are a huge inspiration to everyone in our groups and I hope they inspire other women and men in Sidmouth to change their lives in the same way.”
