Sidmothian Donald dies aged 80 after long career in the paper products industry
THE funeral takes place on Friday of one of the town’s true Sidmothians.
Donald George William Slade, born at home in Riverside, Sidmouth, 80 years ago, died on Monday, January 23, after catching pneumonia on Christmas Day.
Don, whose family was related to both the Slade and Dagworthy families in town, was a successful businessman, having built up his own paper products business in St Albans after rising to home and overseas director for Deeko.
He leaves three children and four grandchildren and many family and friends are expected to attend Friday’s funeral at Sidmouth Parish Church at 2pm.
