A poignant parade honouring past, present and future members of the armed services was attended by dozens of people in Sidmouth.

Sidmouth Town Band performed as part of the event which saw members of the Royal British Legion, Army Cadets and residents turn out to show their respect.

Groups met on the High Street on Saturday at 11.30am before proceeding on a procession led by Sidmouth Town Band through the town’s streets which were lined with people wanting to pay tribute, as part of the day.

The march finished at The Ham where there was a drumhead service, led by Reverend Robert Chavner.

The event took place on the same day as Armed Forced Day but was called ‘Sidmouth’s tribute to the armed forces’ so all ages could feel involved.

Dave O’Connor, chairman of the town’s branch of the Royal British Legion, said: “It is a thank-you to all our members of the Armed Forces, past, present and future, for their assistance for our country which we greatly needed.”
