Bring and buy sale raises 230 for ShelterBox work with Japanese quake victims
CAKES have helped pupils from St Nicholas Junior School raise 230 for the ShelterBox charity.
Last Thursday, Class 5B pupils from the Woolbrook school, held a bring and buy and cake sale at the school, specifically to raise funds for the Japanese people affected by the disastrous earthquake and tsunami that hit the country on March 11.
Class teacher Helen Baker said: “As part of St Nicholas’s creative curriculum, the children had chosen to study Japan as their topic for the second half of the spring term.”
She said they were delighted to raise 180 at the sale, which was boosted by a generous 50 donation.
The money will be sent to aid the work of ShelterBox in towns and villages in Northern Japan.
