Youngsters who enjoy spending their time exploring on adventures will benefit from hundreds of pounds worth of new camping equipment.

The Lions Club of Sidmouth handed over £500 to 1st Sid Vale Scout Group.

The donation was made after the club was told that some of the Sidmouth scouts were planning to embark on a ‘five tors’ challenge in September, but needed funding for new camping equipment.

Lion Chris Rignall said: “Sidmouth Lions have regularly supported the scout group over the past few years and were pleased to be able to help on this occasion.”

Scout leader Chris Hodgson added: “The Exmoor Challenge is more of a walking challenge and the Ten Tors teams are on their own, navigating across Dartmoor, so we thought it would be a good idea to do something in-between and get them ready for the Ten Tors. The group is very excited to be taking part, having weekends between now and September on the moor practising for the challenge and they really appreciate the support Sidmouth Lions give them.”
