Parents join in fun to raise funds for Sidmouth scouts’ new hut build
BEAVERS, cubs, scouts and Explorers from 1st Sidmouth Scouts, held a successful family fun night at Stowford Community Centre, to involve parents more in what takes place at scouting events.
Explorer scouts Sarah Hill and Alice Tilley, talked about the World Scout Jamboree they attended in Sweden last year.
Some 40,000 scouts and guides from around the world gathered to share cultures, religions and more importantly new experiences.
The girls said they enjoyed sharing their experiences with others, especially youngsters who may have the chance to attend the next jamboree in Japan in 2015.
During the evening there was a Beetle Drive, quiz and prize draw and all profits from the event will go towards the new scout hut at Salcombe Hill.
The scouts’ next fundraising event is a Shoe Shine at Waitrose where cubs and scouts will shine people’s shoes for a small donation. It will run from 10am to 4pm from Tuesday, April 10 to Saturday, April 14.
