The 1st Sid Vale Scout Group has big plans to celebrate the opening of its new HQ tomorrow (Saturday, August 20).

The base will be formally unveiled with a special event, starting with an official opening ceremony at noon by presenter, broadcaster and journalist Jeremy Vine.

This will then be followed by a full programme of fun family activities, including climbing, archery, traditional camping cooking, an obstacle course and handicraft stalls.

Donkeys from The Donkey Sanctuary will also be attending and there will be other attractions such as coconut shy, a raffle, photobooth fun, a bouncy castle, ice cream and a fire engine.

The group’s Gareth Hughes said: “We would like our event to be a celebration and a massive thank-you to everyone who has been able to support us through the Sidmouth Herald campaign which began in 2012.”
