A SEAGULL was rescued by firefighters this week after it got stuck in netting in Sidmouth.
The Fire Service received a call from the RSPCA reporting a seagull was trapped at an address on May Terrace at around 1pm on Tuesday.
A fire crew managed to release the bird, which was unharmed, using a ladder.
This incident follows a similar event last week when firefighters had to rescue a seagull from wiring.
It is believed that Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service has spent �23,879 since 2006, rescuing 96 seagulls-an average of �248 per bird.
