A SIDMOUTH funeral directors has organised a seminar for the bereaved and those who care for them.
TV regular bereavement counsellor Dr Bill Webster has been invited as guest speaker to the event at Sidholme Hotel, Elysian Fields, by Potbury's Funeral Services.
A public session at 10.30 am on Tuesday, October 21, will talk about Grief: The Healing Journey, while at 3pm professionals will discuss Effective Grief Support.
Funeral director Andy Downham said: "Our aim as professional funeral directors is to provide care for the bereaved, not just care of the dead."
He said while dealing with the practical problems at the time of bereavement, it was often months after the funeral that those grieving might need support.
"That is why, as part of our contribution to the community, we are hosting this seminar on bereavement care," he said.
The public session will give people a better understanding of their own grief, he added.
As well as seminar talks Dr Webster provides regular training programmes for clergy, police, nurses and others working in bereavement support.
Anyone wishing to attend either seminar session can contact Mr Downham on (01395) 513355.
