A SIDMOUTH slimmer, who changed her life for the better by shedding three stone, now wants to share the secret of her success with others.
Mum-of-two Debbie Alderson, 38, dropped four dress sizes then became a Slimming World consultant to help those in the same situation. She now runs a weekly group in Sidmouth.
“I’ve always enjoyed my food and the odd tipple, my weight has yo-yoed since my early 20s,” said Debbie. “When I reached 30, it gradually went up and up with each child I had.”
Debbie realised she needed extra help and support to get back into shape four months after the birth of her second child. She was two-stone heavier than her pre-pregnancy weight and labelled herself as “frumpy, embarrassed and unusually shy” when she attended her first Slimming World session.
With the help of a consultant Debbie learnt how to cook healthy family meals. She said she never felt hungry but still lost weight.
She now saves cash on her weekly grocery bill - buying fresh food instead of takeaways.

Eight months after joining, Debbie lost three stone and dropped from a “snug” size 16 to a “comfortable” size 12.
“I feel great. I’d forgotten how much I enjoyed clothes shopping. When I tried on a size 12 pair of jeans thinking I was kidding myself - they fitted perfectly…the feeling was just incredible.”
Enthusiastic Debbie now wants to inspire others after becoming a consultant herself.
She runs a group every Thursday at St Nicholas Junior School, Sidmouth, from 7.30pm.
“If anyone in Sidmouth made it their New Year’s resolution to lose weight they’re more than welcome,” said Debbie. “I’m confident they’ll be able to keep the weight off so their resolution will last a lifetime.”
