A POLICE traffic sting in Sidmouth and Newton Poppleford saw officers recover a stolen car and nab a string of illegal drivers.

One motorist faces court after being caught on a town road in a vehicle with no MOT, insurance or tax. Another was handed a £200 fine for having no insurance.

Officers also recovered a stolen car in the four-hour operation in various locations.

A driver was fined for speeding, another was stopped for having obstructed lamps and reflectors, while three motorists were given verbal warnings.

Sidmouth police warned such operations aren’t reserved for FolkWeek, and happen throughout the year.
