Swimmers join in fun of ShelterBox Swimathon organised by Sidmouth Rotarians

MORE teams than ever took part in Saturday’s fifth annual sponsored Swimathon at Sidmouth swimming pool, to raise money for ShelterBox.

This year’s 22 teams, of all ages, took part in the swim, organised by the Rotary Club of Sidmouth.

Some 152 swimmers completed 2,164 lengths - 54,100 metres or 33.6 miles and 13 teams swam more than 100 lengths each.

Sidmouth Garden Centre swimmers again topped the chart this year, completing 131 lengths.

Rotary president, David Burgoyne, who was delighted to see 65 children swimming and enjoying the event, said: “Swimmers of all ages enthusiastically achieved lap after lap in their quest to raise as much money as possible for charity.”
