SIDMOUTH’S Tango Juvenile Carnival Club bagged its best-ever result in front of more than 100,000 people at a prestigious event last Friday.
The group’s fourth place finish at Bridgwater Carnival was its highest in the Juvenile Class.
The ‘Christmas ‘rock ‘n’ roll float’ had twelve youngsters on board and picked up a major prize during the November 5 fun.
‘This was a brilliant result for us,” said club captain Stuart Hughes. “We’ve been entering Bridgwater Carnival for many years and have always picked up fifth or sixth prizes. This year we finally cracked it and fourth is a great result when you see the competition.
“The crowd were really appreciative, cheering and clapping all around the one mile circuit.”
On Saturday, the club members took part in North Petherton Carnival where they picked up fifth prize in front of another massive crowd.
Their float, which took a year to build, features four flying reindeer and sleighs, a giant spinning cracker, two rocking Father Christmas, a dancing Snowman and four jukeboxes.
The club will this weekend take part in Wells City and Glastonbury processions which attract a bumper number of spectators.
