IT'S full steam ahead for the float builders working on Sidmouth Tango Juvenile Carnival Club's entry.

Breaking with tradition, club captain Stuart Hughes has announced before the start of the carnival circuit, what Tango will enter this year.

Called Showboat, the small team currently transforming a lorry and trailer into a spectacular paddle steamer, comprise carpenter John Beaton from Seaton, electrician Ashley Miller from Beer and his brother Grant "I'm dogsbody", Martin Champion, mechanic and engineer from Colyton, Rob Waller, this year's carnival organiser and Stuart, who has relinquished that position after 18 years at the helm.

With colourful costumes being planned for the 14 youngsters on the large float, Stuart says they are "on target" for Sidmouth's carnival on Saturday, September 26.

All they need now is a volunteer with an HGV licence to drive the lorry - a Ford Cargo.

Anyone able to help can contact him on (01395) 578414.
