Fearless Adam Amin wowed even the most hardened surfers when he paddled out alongside top names in the sport to ride the giant swell known as Jaws, off the coast of Maui - where waves can exceed 60 feet.

The 19-year-old – one of only a handful of British surfers to take on the mammoth Hawaiian break - has now announced he will be teaming up with other big wave riders to document his adventures in a film.

But while the thrill-seeker travels the world in pursuit of the perfect break, his friends and family are supporting him by collecting donations via a crowd funding website to buy safety equipment and ensure he ‘gets home in one piece’.

Adam said: “I have a big announcement that I will be making a video featuring all my travels and big wave surfing.

“I wanted to surf huge waves - small waves were great at the start, but I learnt that larger waves held more thrill - I just had to go larger and larger from there.

“I have always been the one to try for thrilling and adventurous things. I skydived and it didn’t thrill me as much as riding down a huge, dangerous wave.”

Adam – who spent the majority of his relatively short surfing career catching small waves off Sidmouth seafront – thanked his mum, Helle Poulsen, stepdad, Guy Russell, and family friend, Toby Foster, for their endless support.

He also issued a big thank-you to family friend, Vewis Loss, for setting up the crowd funding page which has so far raised £400 of its £1,000 target.

Vewis described Adam as an ‘inspirational human being’ on his page.
