Sidmouth Tennis Club to host floodlight gala

SIDMOUTH Tennis Club will celebrate the addition of new floodlights by staging a gala evening on Thursday.

There will be an official ‘switch-on’ of the lights and it is hoped all those who gave invaluable support to the project can attend.

A general invitation has also been extended to members of the public.

The event, from 5.30pm to 9pm at the Fortfield Terrace club, will see play on the now-lit courts involving all age groups from the membership - including exhibition matches.

Off-court there will be a presentation ceremony to junior tournament winners.

“The completion of the floodlighting project is both an occasion to celebrate and to express our thanks to those organisations and individuals, including members, who so generously supported the appeal,” said the tennis club’s David Thorneley.

“We have every reason to believe the event will attract a bumper attendance with so much activity on and off court ,including a good number of prospective new members, as we are keen to show the continuing important role that the club plays in the community.”
