Philippe Planel, East Devon AONB's Parishscapes Officer, told councillors on Monday that urban areas not in the Area of Outstanding Beauty were also being digitised ready to be put on its website in a few weeks' time.
Because the maps are so large they can only be photographed in Mansfield.
Mr Planel explained how the online map could be accessed and used interactively once the project was finished.
"We have put 10 maps on line and the rest will be on line in the next two to three weeks. We are hoping you will find it useful," he said.
Non-domestic buildings are in black and houses in red. It appears Sidmouth parish church has changed shape between the 1840 Tithe Map and the 1888 OS map.
