Steve Wallis’ book, Sidmouth to Beer Through Time, takes a look at the Regency town of Sidmouth through the ages as well as some of the outlying villages. Try out our photo sliders to see how the area has changed over time.

Changing buildings - The buildings to the right of the older picture are not as easy to recognise from the more modern image. Looking at the prominent white building in the modern picture, the Riviera Hotel built around 1820, you can see the alterations, which were made in the twentieth century, including the addition of an extra storey.
