Sidmouth to ‘Remember Hiroshima’

PUBLISHED: 13:39 27 July 2011

SIDMOUTH’S annual Remember Hiroshima ceremony will take place a day early next week - on Friday, August 5.

The event will be staged outside The Ham Marquee at 1pm.

Remember Hiroshima is the brainchild of Maisie Carter, a Londoner who has visited the FolkWeek festival for more than three decades.

Last year, festival organisers recognised her efforts by arranging a Peace Concert for the first time.

Mark Gold, a Remember Hiroshima organiser, said: “We felt it would be wrong to let FolkWeek pass by without making our annual statement about the horrors of violence and war.”
