District and county councils should feature on Sidmouth toilet plaque hears town council

WORDING on a plaque to be mounted on a wall at Sidmouth toilets, should include the district council, town councillors heard.

East Devon District Council told Sidmouth Town Council it agreed a plaque could be placed at the Three Cornered Plot toilets, but asked for the EDDC logo and wording along the lines of ‘working in partnership with East Devon District Council’ be included as the land, trees and building are district council assets.

“Really we should put Devon County Council on too,” said chairman, Councillor Stuart Hughes, “because they provide electricity for lights.

“It would be fitting to have all three authorities who support the venture on the plaque.”

“We will need an estimate for a plaque,” said Councillor Graham Liverton, who thought the town council crest should go at the top.

“Do we want Uncle Tom Cobley and all? We might want the Chamber of Commerce on too. It is getting into the realms of fantasy.”

He suggested the wording ‘in partnership with district and county councils’ go on the plaque, adding: “We should ask EDDC to dip into its pocket to help pay for it.”
