HALLOWEEN proved a treat for a record amount of well-behaved Sidmouth youngsters and the town’s police.

Officers seized eggs from one mischievous group but praised the majority of children and adults who enjoyed trick or treat fun on Sunday.

“It was all treat,” said Sergeant Andy Turner, “I even got some sweets!

“It was the most children I’ve ever seen out, but every group was supervised by an adult and well behaved. We caught one group that wasn’t so well behaved early on and seized some eggs.”

Anti-social trick or treaters intent on giving Sidmouth residents a fright were last week warned police would take a zero-tolerance approach over Halloween bad behaviour.

Community Safety Partnership bosses in East Devon contacted shopkeepers and parents to ask them for help in stopping anti-social behaviour, and to keep an eye on the sale of eggs and flour.
