A SERIES of public events to look at the development of Port Royal, Sidmouth, over the coming week, has been organised by The Vision Group for Sidmouth.

The first, at Sidmouth Library tomorrow (Saturday, June 5), has a display of maps suggesting possible concepts and layouts for the site, planning documents and an outline development brief.

There will also be a suggestion box for members of the public to leave comments as well as blank maps available to fill in with more detailed proposals and put in the box.

This public consultation exercise put together by the Vision Group runs in parallel with East Devon District Council's Port Royal Steering Group's work in putting together a development brief and series of concept statements, which will later be put to councillors.

On Thursday, June 10, from 1.30-2.30pm, there will be a chance to go to the site and comment on what could go there.

The Vision Group will gather at the Drill Hall and the public are invited to identify what they consider to be the site's assets and how best to make use of these.

The following evening at 7pm, a public meeting to discuss the input on developing Port Royal, will take place at All Saints Hall, All Saints Road.

The evening will start with a historical overview of the East Ham before considering its possible future shape.

"Most of the evening will be taken up with everyone assembled working on maps and documents of the area to build up more detailed proposals for the development of Port Royal," said Vision Group secretary Jeremy Woodward.

These will be handed to EDDC's Port Royal Steering Group for consideration.
