A wartime evacuee has compiled her life’s work of poems and stories into a new book for her family and friends.
Based in Sidmouth since 2007, 82-year-old Miriam Brown’s verses have covered everything from Alma Bridge to evolution.
She was born in London, evacuated to Sussex when World War Two broke out and started writing aged 17.
Influenced by her time in Canada, there are also poems in French, and more recently she has moved into prose.
Miriam organised the regular ‘What Do You Think?’ seminars at the Unitarian Church and is now planning bi-monthly discussion afternoons instead.
Her book, Light and Dark, is available at Paragon Books.
