CAST and crew from Sidmouth Youth Theatre’s The Ragged Child production raises 486.53 for Exeter Shilhay Community

CAST and crew from Sidmouth Youth Theatre’s recent production of The Ragged Child held a bucket collection at each performance and raised 486.53 for Exeter Shilhay Community Ltd.

Marc Colson, manager of one of the charity’s projects, said: “In these difficult financial times this is a magnificent achievement and I believe the performance touched many people’s consciousness as the plight of poverty, unemployment and the homeless of 1848 sadly still occurs in some areas of the country today – including locally.”

Director Angela Davies added: “Knowing the work of Shilhay, it was very fitting to support such a worthwhile cause that helps people rebuild their lives through education and work.”

The money will support a future theatre production which Shilhay Community will perform across Devon. Called In Thee Face Of it will be at the Manor Pavilion Theatre, Sidmouth on June 3 at 8pm.

Mr Colson is involved in a project (MOP) offering vulnerably-housed and homeless people a range of occupational and training activities.
