A Sidmouth drama teacher has been recognised for her work nurturing the dreams of thousands of young performers with an invite to this weekend’s royal wedding.
Angela Davies, the founder of Sidmouth Youth Theatre, is among 1,200 people selected to attend the nuptials of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle for their contribution to the community.
The royal couple will wed tomorrow at noon in St George’s Chapel, Windsor, in a ceremony set to be watched by millions around the world.
Since 1985, Sidmouth College drama teacher Angela has put on 43 productions and taught many future stars, including Duncan James and Tony Award-winning actor Alex Sharp.
She said: “I hope to continue working with young people for a long as possible, empowering them to rise to the challenge of committing and performing on stage and to encourage a love of theatre and the community dimension it develops.
“For me, my legacy will always be the impact on all those thousands of young people who have been part of the Sidmouth Youth Theatre family - on stage or behind the scenes - and all those who are now working in many fields of the entertainment industry who recognise where it all began and who keep in touch to let me know what they are up to.”
