Stuart baffled by odd postmark

A BAFFLED Sidmouth councillor wasn’t sure whether a Christmas card that arrived on Monday, with a postmark of December 2, 2012, was early or late.

Stuart Hughes, of Temple Street, was shocked when he received season greetings from a well-wisher, two-and-a-half miles away in Sidford, on January 6.

A Royal Mail spokesperson couldn’t shed any light on the ‘2012’ stamp but said: “All our postmen and women worked very hard to help deliver Christmas for our customers. We invested an additional £15 million in our operation to do so.”
