Sidmouth worshippers welcome Yazz

THE only way is up – for former chart-topper Yazz, who joined worshippers at the first service of Evangel: The Good News Pentecostal Family Church, last Sunday at its new venue at Stowford community centre.

Yazz, who was born in 1960, first performed in a band called Pastiche, while still at school. Her first real break came in 1988 with Doctorin’ the House with the band Coldcut, with whom she recorded The Only Way is Up. It was Number One for six weeks.

She became a Christian in 1996 and now lives in Spain. She enjoys ministering and working with drug addicts and alcoholics.
